Inside Napier Truck Tent

Napier Backroadz Truck Tent 19 Series Overview

Napier is a well-recognized name, which has been involved in the industry for decades. Recently, the company partnered with Trees for the Future, which means that by making a purchase, you will also be planting a tree, an initiative that any nature lover can appreciate. The Napier Backroadz Truck Tent 19 Series is available in five variations and should work with most popular models of trucks: Chevrolet, Dodge, Ford, GMC, Toyota, and Nissan.

As for the sizes, it comes with a Compact Short Bed (5-5.2 inches), Full-Size Short Bed (5.5-5.8 inches), Compact Regular Bed (6-6.3 inches), Full-Size Regular Bed (6.4-6.7 inches), and a Full-Size Long Bed (8-8.2 inches) that is an ideal choice if you want to enjoy enhanced comfort. It is set at 58 to 62 inches in height and made to resist heavy weather with a premium rain fly and a water-resistant full tent floor.

Who Should Buy the Napier Backroadz Truck Tent?

The Napier Backroadz Truck Tent 19 Series is a fantastic choice for anyone who enjoys spending time in nature and happens to own a truck that the tent is compatible with. Whether you are going for a mountain trek or plan to camp by the ocean, setting up in the back of a pickup truck will save you space, time, and in some cases, even some money. Given the reasonable price and the versatility in designs mentioned above, the Napier Backroadz Truck Tent 19 Series proves itself as a solid choice for a truck tent to most demographics.

How to Setup the Napier Backroadz Truck Tent 19 Series

One of the most frustrating aspects of camping is putting up your tent. While some manufacturers have come up with unique solutions to this annoyance in recent years, it is still on the mind of almost everyone looking to purchase a tent. So how does the Napier Backroadz Truck Tent 19 Series compare when it comes to getting set up?

The installation process is simple, so simple in fact that you can learn all you need to know about setting it up by watching a short 2-minute video.

Napier Backroadz Truck Tent Features

The innovative full tent floor comes with 100% water resistance and protection from harsh external conditions. As a result, you’ll be able to put it on the dirtiest truck bed without worrying about dirt inside of your tent.  The floor’s comfort level is paired with 5.5 feet of headroom, ensuring a large, expansive cabin. While you shouldn’t expect to stand straight up in it, it offers enough space for two or three persons (smaller) to lie down and rest.

It features a rain cover to keep you dry during wet conditions, and its doorway extends quite far, providing you more room to stow bags, camping equipment, and other essentials. Unfortunately, it doesn’t feature an extra awning which would be just the right item to keep you safe in heavy rain and snow.  As for the sophisticated design details, it comes with a few zip-up windows (four) and a wide entrance that allows for plenty of air. One of the highlights is the fantastic storage capacity as it comes with a gear loft and an extra pocket in which you can fit all of your valuables.

Napier Backroadz Truck Tent series 19

While the Napier Backroadz Truck Tent Series 19 proves itself as a reliable, easy to set up, and durable truck tent, that’s not to say that improvements can’t be made. The one area where we would like to see some changes made is the quality of the poles. For most users, it’s not likely to be a problem, but we can see this becoming an issue for those who tend to handle their gear a bit rough or use the tent very regularly. A good way around this problem is to treat the poles gently, but when installing the tent or when traveling with the equipment in the back.

We also feel more insulation could offer better protection against the elements if things get a little rougher than expected.

While there is room for improvement (design-wise), the reasonable price, simple setup, good capacity, and enhanced interior security make the Napier Backroadz Truck Tent a high-quality product.

Pros

  • Withstands most weather conditions (except snow)
  • Simple to set up, suitable for beginners
  • Offers sleeping space for two to three persons
  • It is leak-proof and comes with a durable rainfly
  • Double-stitched floor for extra protection
  • It comes at an affordable price

Cons

  • No insulation
  • The color-coded poles could be stronger

Final Thoughts

Overall, the Napier Backroadz Truck Tent 19 Series is a solid truck bed tent that holds its own with other models on the market. While insulation and snow protection may have taken it up another tier, we can recommend this product to most outdoor enthusiasts looking for a spacious two-person truck bed tent.

About the Brand

In 1990, Roman Napieraj, the founder of Napier Enterprises, invented the first iterations of truck tents. Since then, many manufacturers have started to offer the same concept. Truck tents can now be found in most large outdoor and camping stores. Napier, however, has continued to feature as a leading brand for truck tents, with the Backroadz and Sportz being the company’s two flagship brands.
